January 17, 2010–Spent the day helping Daniel take apart an old laptop in order to repurpose it as a wall-mounted computer. Of course, while he was taking occasional pictures of the process, I was too absorbed in the fun I was having taking things apart and tinkering that I didn’t think to take any pictures myself. So I took a picture of my tools. These are mostly the things that I use when working on electronics; my home repair tools are mostly in a drawer in the kitchen (which is nowhere near as organized).

In the compartments, left-to-right, top-to-bottom you see (and sometimes don’t see):

Small pliers, bit driver, screwdriver/level/flashlight multitool
DVI-VGA adapters
PS-2-USB adapter, power supply Y-adapter, silver thermal compound
Random screws, jumpers, batteries and other parts

Static strap, LED flashlight, multimeter
Cable splitters, coax input switch

Scrolling LED badges, security bit set, nylon wire ties, velcro wire ties, ruler

Funny story about the pink case: Yes, it’s a Caboodle. Yes, I’ve had this since about 1988 or so. If I could change its color easily, I would; I haven’t really much cared for pink since around 1990. Nonetheless, this case has held everything from Barbie clothes to art supplies to makeup to tools. In other words, it’s useful.
